March 2018 Membership Meeting
Speaker: Jerrid Sebesta
Topic: How Weather and Basketball Can Give Us the Keys to Success
Sponsor: American Bank & Trust
Life is nothing more than a series of “seasons”, but not weather seasons. The way someone uses those “seasons” can open or shut doors of opportunity in the future. Jerrid walks you through his own life coming from humble beginnings as a small-town, single-parent kid in western Minnesota to becoming a successful collegiate basketball player as well as a well-known TV meteorologist through combination of hard work, excellence and ethics. He openly admits, “I should have NEVER had the opportunities and experiences I’ve been given in my life. Regardless of a person’s past or up-bringing, everyone has the potential of achieving BIG things in his/her lives.”
Jerrid Sebesta is an award winning, CBM Certified TV meteorologist as well as a prominent motivational speaker and social media mogul. He has worked at KDLT-TV in Sioux Falls, SD, at KPNX-TV, Phoenix, AZ and most-recently at KARE11, Minneapolis, MN.
Sebesta was born and raised in Montevideo, MN. He started his collegiate career at Ridgewater College in Willmar, MN before heading to the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks. It’s hard to tell on TV, but Jerrid stands 6’6″ tall and played college basketball at UND while pursing his meteorology degree.
One of Jerrid’s biggest claims to fame is #blamejerrid, a nationally-trending Twitter hashtag started in April of 2013. Since then, people having been “blaming” him for just about anything from horrible weather to flat tires.
Jerrid is married to his wife, Emily and has two children, Beckham and Raiya.
