Dr. Vance Thompson, MD & Founder, Vance Thompson Vision

Sales and Marketing Executives, Inc. of Sioux Falls honored Dr. Vance Thompson with its coveted 2021 South Dakota Sales and Marketing Executive of the Year™ award.

Vance Thompson, MD is an internationally recognized specialist in Laser Vision Correction and Advanced Cataract Surgery. He is the Founder of Vance Thompson Vision Sioux Falls, SD, and also serves as a Professor of Ophthalmology at the Sanford USD School of Medicine. As a leading international researcher he has played a key role in the development of the most advanced technologies and techniques for both laser and implant vision correction. He has served as the medical monitor lead or principal investigator in over 85 FDA monitored clinical trials studying laser and implant surgery. He has lectured and taught advanced laser and implant surgery to thousands of surgeons all around the world.

Dr. Thompson believes in a team first approach to customer service. Entrepreneur Magazine recently awarded Vance Thompson Vision as one of the country’s Top Company Cultures. As an entrepreneur, he has used his gifts of servant leadership to create countless service oriented business models. As co-owner in Jessup Cellars in Yountville, California, his award winning staff recently won an award for the Best Tasting Room Experience and Best Wine Club Experience for the third year in a row.

A Gregory, South Dakota native, Dr. Thompson received his BS in Chemistry and his MD degree from the University of South Dakota. Dr. Thompson and his wife Jana reside in Sioux Falls. They have 3 children, Blake (and his wife Kayla), Joel (and his wife Tess), Lauren and two grandsons. Dr. Thompson loves his home state of South Dakota and in addition to being inducted into the South Dakota Hall of Fame and two Presidential Appointments to the Kennedy Center in Washington DC he has served on multiple boards and leadership positions. His main interests include his family, cooking, and spending time in the outdoors.
