COMMITTEE DESCRIPTIONS:
SME Youth Benefit Auction

Responsible for conducting the annual event in September wherein funds are raised to support the SME Scholarship program and a named beneficiary, currently Youth Business Adventure (YBA).  Meets monthly April – September.

Holiday Gala
Committee to plan the Holiday Party for December arranges entertainment, meals.  Meets 2-3 times October – December event.

SME Excellence Awards

Responsibility to plan, implement, conduct this event as an opportunity for SME membership and regional business professionals to acknowledge the outstanding South Dakota Sales and Marketing Executive of the Year. Meets September – February event.

Membership – Recruitment

Ongoing responsibility for motivating members to recruit new members and organizing recruitment programs and prospective member gatherings.  Meets monthly July – June.

Membership -- Retention

Retention tasks including renewal reminder calls and cards, follow-up with companies when a member leaves their position, hold networking events, etc.  Meets monthly July – June.

SME Women in Business

Responsible to plan, implement and evaluate the large-scale annual April event directed at, but not limited to women in this region.  Meets monthly September – April event.

PSE Liaison

Liaison to work with the USD Pi Sigma Epsilon Chapter, including communication, recruiting speakers and resource person, organizing “Shadow Days” and assisting with PSE projects.

Marketing and Public Relations

Ongoing committee works with Executive Staff, Board and Committees to communicate to the member and the media the accomplishments of the organization, its members and events.  Responsible to recruit Membership Directory advertising sales, and assist with Newsletter articles or other contributions.  Meets montly July – June.

Scholarship

Committee works with area colleges, universities and schools to promote the SME Scholarship Program, evaluates the applicant, determines the recipients of the scholarship awards, and makes the presentation at the April Membership Meeting and assists SME Youth Benefit Auction committee as requested to raise monies to support scholarships.  Meets monthly October – April

SME Sunrise Sales Seminars

Committee is responsible for planning, promoting and implementing this educational morning seminar held in October and March  Meets 2-3 times before each event.

Summer Golf Event – JAM (Join A Member) & BFT

Event in August includes golf, a tour of local businesses (Business Fun Tour) and dinner.  Meets montly April – August event.

Professional Development

Lead by the President Elect and assisted by incoming presidents, this committee works hard on the speaker contracts and ensure our programs have great educational balance.

Corporate Sponsorship

Committee formed to contact local businesses to partner with them on sponsorship of SME events and share speaker services and costs.
